The market town of Haddington is 20 miles East of Edinburgh along the A1 dual carriageway.  Travelling East take the second exit to Haddington - St Mary's is signposted from the main road.  Look to the South, and you will see the old church tower in the distance. Bullet gifmapBullet gif

         

The Friends of St Mary's was formed some 30 years ago. Their patron at that time was Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.

Since then they have many achievements to their credit such as assisting to provide St Mary's with:

bullet A new pulpit
bullet An oak communion table
bullet Chairs to replace some of the old pews
bullet Stained glass window repairs and protection
bullet Loop system for the hard of hearing
bullet Drawings of "Vanished St Mary's"
bullet A large contribution towards the cost of new floodlighting
bullet Refurbishing of the kitchen and toilets in the Church
bullet Replacement of the sound system
bullet Replacement of West Door steps
bullet A moveable stage at the East end of the church
bullet A projector system for use during services

In 1999 they funded, along with a substantial award from the Millennium Heritage Fund, the installation of a set of eight bells in the church tower. The bells rang in the new millennium and featured on the BBC’s national coverage.

In 2006 St Mary's Church was awarded the prestigious 3 star award by the Scottish Tourist Board.

The star award scheme focuses on the welcome, hospitality, service and presentation of visitor attractions such as St Mary's Church.
