May has been a busy month in the life of St Mary’s. Open Season has begun, we have enjoyed splendid concerts and we welcomed our mission partners, Sammy and Terry Karanja, to our services and enjoyed meeting them over lunch. Add to that the commitment to Christian Aid Week and we have a very busy schedule and that’s before we even begin to think about the normal week to week activities. Maybe it’s no bad thing that summer approaches and we can step back a little, breathe more deeply and enjoy the beauty around us as life hopefully gets quieter for a while at least! And while all this has been happening, life inside our sanctuary has seen much disruption in recent days. Now normality is returning. Access through both west and north entrances, and the possibility of sitting where you choose and having coffee in a bit more space instead of the squash we have known in recent times! But despite the upheavals I believe we have retained the spiritual integrity of who we are and why we are here. God has been with us in the mess and will walk with us still in the days ahead. At last we will be able to open fully to welcome our visitors day by day. We owe many thanks to all who have continued to get on with whatever needed to be done despite the disruption and difficulties they encountered. Now all can admire the result of this necessary piece of work. So enjoy the beauty of the wood of the restored and polished floor and give thanks for the life of St Mary’s – past, present and in days to come. May we all feel richly blessed in our sanctuary and in our world. With every blessing Jennifer Macrae
